According to Wikipedia, the river Tyne (in England) is pronounced "taIn", sort of like tines of a fork. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/River_Tyne,_England .
The entry for the Scottish Tyne doesn't have a pronunciation guide, but I'd bet it's the same. Wonderful to have the same name just to confuse us.


Is it embarrasing to admit that, despite going through some secondary school education on the english civil wars, i had no idea that Charles made an abortive attempt to take back the country?
